Permanent Makeup Tattoos

Permanent makeup is produced by tattooing permanent pigments into the dermis. The permanent makeup client usually chooses the design of her permanent makeup application. However, most permanent makeup is designed to mimic the appearance of traditional cosmetics on the skin.

Many permanent makeup clients choose permanent makeup for its convenience and durability. Permanent makeup remains intact for three to five years after it is applied. In addition, it is not applied by the permanent makeup client. Instead, a certified permanent makeup specialist tattoos the permanent makeup onto the client’s skin.

On the contrary, traditional cosmetics are applied by the makeup wearer. Faulty applications, smears and smudges must be removed, and new makeup must be reapplied. Consequently, traditional makeup can be inconvenient to use. Each time the makeup wearer perspires heavily, swims or showers, she must reapply her makeup.

Permanent makeup was first used by American salons in the 1930s. The cosmetic tattoos were applied to add color to cheeks and smooth complexions. The nature of the permanent makeup procedure was not disclosed to wealthy salon clients. The permanent makeup applications were discreetly named “complexion treatments.”

Today, people understand that permanent makeup consists of tattoos. Permanent makeup clients embrace the convenience and durability of permanent makeup.
