Many printers today use digital business card printing to fill their orders. This approach does provide a number of benefits but also has a few drawbacks when compared to offset printing. Before ordering your next set of business cards, it’s a good idea to educate yourself on the differences.
One of the major differences between digital business card printing and using offset printing for the cards is the quality of the finished product. While advances in digital technology have enhanced the quality of this type of printing, it is still considered inferior to offset methods. Depending on the complexity of the card design, you may find that one printing strategy is clearly the better approach.
If you need no more than a couple hundred business cards, you will find that digital printing is more cost effective. With offset printing, the real price breaks come in when the cards are ordered in larger amounts. Compare the price of an order for 200 cards using each printing method. You will likely find that the digital route is cheaper. When this is the case, save the offset printing for when you need to order a thousand or more of the same business card and stick with the digital printing method for short runs.
